Abstract
A clinical situation occasionally presents in which in which diffuse metastatic disease of the peritoneal cavity is noted, but the ovaries are normal size, with or without ascites.
This clinical phenomenon is the normal sized ovary carcinoma syndrome. Ofeten the extensive peritoneal involvement in these helps persuade the surgeon to do a minimal procedure.
A sufficient intra operative abdominal exploration is frequently no performed, and the patient is placed into a "wastebasket" diagnosis of ovarian carcinoma.
Several malignancies may present with intraoperative findings, but may require different treatment modalities and may have different prognosis. Thus, precise diagnosis and accurate categorization is important for optimal treatment and prognosis.
We experienced a case of normal sized ovary borderline malignancy with ascites in 44 year old multiparous women, and this case was present with a review of the literatures.
